Irish bailout supports eurozone stability: ECB

The European Central Bank late Sunday said the Irish government's request for an international bailout was "justifiable" aid to guarantee financial stability in the European Union and in the eurozone.

The ECB's governing council "welcomes the request of the Irish Government for financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Union and euro-area Member States," the bank said in a short statement.
