BERLIN - The abduction of German aid worker Susanne Osthoff by terrorists in Iraq shows that Germany as a whole is threatened by terrorism, Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble told Die Welt newspaper Wednesday.

Osthoff, a 43-year-old archaeologist who had worked in Iraq for years and has long been active in the aid sector, was abducted along with her driver on Friday.

The German government has indicated it will not give in to the demands of her captors to cease all cooperation with the Iraqi government.

Osthoff's abduction "shows that we in Germany are also threatened by international terrorism," Schaeuble told the daily.
