German prosecutors said Monday they had indicted nine suspected operators of an international child porn ring with around 500 members worldwide.

The nine men, ranging in age from 30 to 58, were charged with setting up and operating a secretive child porn forum on the Internet since 2007 to exchange images of sexual abuse, prosecutors in Frankfurt said in a statement.

Two of the men were charged with 33 counts of abusing children themselves.

Investigations into the ring have led to the identification of 140 members worldwide.

Raids in Spain, Bulgaria, Canada and the United States have resulted in the seizure of 220 computers and around 100,000 images of child porn.
