TEL AVIV - A group of Israeli Holocaust survivors want to travel to Tehran and attend a controversial conference on the Holocaust planned in December, the Israeli Yediot Ahronot daily reported Thursday.

Noah Flug, the chairman of the Centre for Holocaust Survivors Organizations in Israel, sent a letter to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad demanding an invitation to what he says will be a Holocaust denial conference.

"Invite us, Holocaust survivors from Israel, to the conference. This will be an opportunity to conduct a serious and thorough discussion on the issue," he wrote.

Flug also suggested Ahmadinejad visit the Auschwitz death camp.

"There we can show you from up close how the Nazi extermination machine worked and murdered more than one million people, Jews and also not Jews," he said.

Iran has already twice postponed the controversial conference, which is now due in December and among other topics is to discuss the root causes of anti-Semitism in Europe and the connection between the Holocaust and Zionism.

Observers expect that neo-Nazis from Germany will also be invited to the event.
