Germany's Webasto to expand Slovak plant
Germany's auto parts maker Webasto will expand its plant in southern Slovakia, the Hospodarske Noviny business daily reported Tuesday.
The company will invest five million euros ($6.0 million) and add 470 jobs to the 400 already on its production line in Velky Meder, southern Slovakia, the paper said, quoting Mayor Alexander Neveri.
The company was not available for comment.
The automotive sector employs nearly 72,000 people in this country of 5.4 million people and accounts for 39 percent of total Slovak output.
A eurozone member since 2009, Slovakia is home to three sprawling foreign car plants run by Germany's Volkswagen, France's PSA Peugeot Citroen and South Korea's Kia.
