Germany to send 120 extra soldiers to Afghanistan

The Defence Ministry said the new company of soldiers would arrive in January and that the reinforcement would not take the German deployment above the 4,500 limit set by parliament.

Berlin -- Germany announced Friday that it is sending 120 extra soldiers to Afghanistan where its force faces mounting Taliban attacks.

The Defence Ministry said the new company of soldiers would arrive in January and that the reinforcement would not take the German deployment above the 4,500 limit set by parliament.

The German parliament is to renew the military mandate in Afghanistan in December. There are currently 4,300 German troops in the international force in the war stricken country.
