BERLIN - The German government is reviewing the US September 11 report for possible insights into how to improve anti-terrorism security in this country, a spokeswoman said Friday.

Pending thorough study of the 600-page 9-11 report no assessment will be made public, said the Interior Ministry spokeswoman.

The report, an exhaustive account that resulted from a 20-month investigation, found a systemic failure of the US government over several years leading up to the September 11 terrorist attacks.

It said US officials lacked "imagination" to confront the threat and that the country still was "not safe".
