Germany sees Kabul blast as attack on international aid effort
The German government condemns the bomb attack on Kabul's only five-star hotel as an attempt to undermine international efforts to assist Afghanistan.

Berlin (dpa) - The perpetrators were aiming directly at the international community and its support for the reconstruction of Afghanistan, Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said in Berlin.
"The international community will not be intimidated by this attack. We have taken on an obligation to the Afghan population that we stand by," Steinmeier said.
The aid effort was aimed at helping Afghanistan to a peaceful, free and prosperous future, he added.
Steinmeier regretted that his Norwegian counterpart, Jonas Gahr Store, who was visiting Kabul when the attack occurred on Monday, had been targeted and expressed the hope that the perpetrators would be apprehended and brought to justice.
