Karlsruhe, Germany (dpa) - Germany is asking Turkey to extradite a man accused of helping procure detonators for German Islamists building a car bomb, prosecutors in Karlsruhe said.

They confirmed that Attila S, 22, was in custody in Konya, Turkey. He is the fourth person arrested in connection with the alleged plot. Germany rounded up a trio, two of them Germans who had converted to Islam, in September.

A prosecution spokeswoman said she had no idea when S could be extradited. "That depends on a lot of things," she said.

The trio, named as Fritz G, Daniel S and Adem Y, allegedly bought chemicals to mix up explosives, and wanted to set off a car bomb at a US base.

Manfred Gnjidic, the German lawyer for S, said he had not been able to speak to his client since the arrest.

Gnjidic said S had moved to Turkey nine months ago, not recently as claimed by some media. S rejected the allegations.

Intelligence services in Germany say S trained in a camp in Pakistan.
