Germany plans top team to coordinate industrial policy
The German government wants to set up a special task force to better coordinate its industrial policy, according to an internal working document seen by AFP Sunday.
The text indicates that Economy Minister Rainer Bruderle is to lead the proposed task force assisted by four other ministers: Wolfgang Schaeuble (finance), Norbert Roettgen (environment), Annette Schavan (research) and Ursula von der Leyen (labour).
The economic daily Handelsblatt said the group, expected to become operational within months, aims to improve exchanges between policy-makers and economic leaders, who have complained about a lack of effective coordination.
