Germany expels Libyan diplomat
Germany has expelled a senior Libyan diplomat loyal to ruler Moamer Kadhafi, the foreign ministry said Monday.
The diplomat, identified as Hisham Al Sharif, was declared 'persona non grata' and forced to leave by Friday last week, a ministry spokesman said.
The diplomat, with the rank of charge d'affaires, had been appointed to Berlin on July 22.
In June, Germany recognised the rebel National Transitional Council as the legitimate representative of the Libyan people during the course of a visit to Benghazi by Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle.
The Libyan rebel movement recently installed ambassadors in Paris and London, formalising ties with its main allies in the fight to topple Kadhafi from power in Tripoli.
Britain has also expelled all remaining Kadhafi loyalists from the embassy in London.
