TALLINN - Football World Cup hosts Germany have asked Estonia to provide sky marshals aboard each flight to Germany for the duration of the tournament, the Eesti Ekspress weekly reported on Thursday.

Germany is taking no risks in the area of security at the World Cup which runs June 9-July 9. In Germany alone, a 340-million euros security operation will be in place to fight football violence as well as terrorism.

The German Foreign Ministry did not want to comment on the report from Estonia, while Estonian officials did not dismiss it.

The Baltic news agency BNS said the German request was dealt with by the Estonian cabinet.
