Straubing, Germany - A 21-year-old German woman who wanted to play hooky from her job at a fast food restaurant in Bavaria last week sent her parents a text message with a terrifying message: she had been kidnapped.

As a result, Straubing police said they had launched a massive search for the woman. She showed up unharmed the following morning telling police that her kidnapper released her.

The woman was questioned afterward and admitted she made up the story because she owed a colleague 25 euros and couldn't cover her debt, police said. She now faces a fine of up to 1,000 euros.
