Prosecutors in the southern justice capital of Karlsruhe said the 42-year-old woman had been on the wanted list for six years. She was detained Monday at Cologne Airport, but has since been bailed.

Between 1996 and 1998 in Germany, she belonged to the terrorist wing of Devrimci Halk Kurtulus Partisi-Cephesi (DHKP-C), a party seeking a Marxist-Leninist state in Turkey.

The group is accused of fire-bombing Turkish missions in Germany and beating up renegades and rivals. Germany banned the group in 1998 and the wing announced in 1999 it was giving up violence in Germany.

A substantial Turkish community lives in Germany.

Prosecutors did not explain how the German woman came to be in charge of public relations in Germany for the party.

Prosecutors said a core group of the party's Germany-based leaders had formed the terrorist wing in 1995 to coordinate a series of bombings. The attacks killed several people in Turkey.
