8th December 2010, Comments 0 comments

The German trade surplus narrowed in October to 14.2 billion euros (18.7 billion dollars) from 16.8 billion in September, the federal statistics office reported Wednesday, citing an increase in imports.

The value of German imports came to 72.6 billion euros from 70 billion euros in September. Exports were stable on a monthly basis.

The rise in imports coincided with a pick-up in domestic consumption in Europe's largest economy.
