CHENNAI - German tennis star Rainer Schuettler on Monday became the latest of a number of players who have said they would donate their prize money from the ATP tournament in Chennai to the victims of the tsunami catastrophe.

Earlier the world class doubles pair of Jonas Bjoerkman from Sweden and local hero Mahesh Bhupathi said they would donate any money they made at the tournament to the victims.

On Sunday an auction of tennis memorabilia had already raised USD 22,000 (EUR 16,000).

The women's invitational tournament in Hong Kong has also donated money to the relief efforts. The organisers on Monday made USD 64,000 available.

This amount is set to rise after a charity auction of tennis memorabilia.

The Williams sisters, as well as Russian Grand Slam winners Maria Sharapova and Svetlana Kusnetsova are participating in the tournament.
