The attack occurred on Sunday night when the actress, Sara Casasnovas, was leaving the theatre after performing in Tennessee Williams' Night of the Iguana.
The 39-year-old German, identified as Arndt M., fired a crossbow in her direction. The arrow missed and landed in the jacket of another actor from the play, who was unhurt.
Several men then wrestled the man to the ground.
Police said the man was carrying a backpack that contained a second crossbow, arrows, a cutter, handcuffs, teargas and a can of petrol.
They said he had sent several love letters to the 25-year-old Casasnovas and had come to Spain to see her.
