German rail to begin InterCity internet project

11 March 2005, HANOVER - German rail operator Deutsche Bahn is planning to introduce wireless access to the internet on all its InterCity trains, the company said on Friday. A pilot project will be launched in the autumn on the Cologne- to-Dortmund line, Deutsche Bahn said at the CeBIT computer and telecommunications fair in Hanover, If successful the "Railnet" project, being operated in partnership with Deutsche Telekom, will be launched on all InterCity routes next year.
