German police arrest suspected Islamist
Germany's federal prosecutor on Thursday arrested an alleged Islamist suspected of planning attacks as part of a terror cell whose leader was under orders from Al-Qaeda.
The 27-year-old German is suspected of continuing to plan an attack in Germany despite the arrest of the alleged cell's other members earlier in the year, the federal prosecutor said in a written statement.
He was arrested in the western city of Bochum by special German police units.
In April German officials said they had nipped in the bud plans for a major attack inside the country by breaking up the alleged terror cell after a tip-off from the United States.
