German retail sales slipped by 1.9 percent in November from the previous month, the national statistics service said on Friday.

For 2010 as a whole however, the Destatis service estimated that retail sales in Germany, the biggest European economy, gained between 2.5 and 2.7 percent from the previous year.

That underpinned forecasts that consumption would begin to provide a solid pillar of growth in addition to exports and business investment.
