Inflation in Germany, the biggest European economy, stood at 2.3 percent in August, slightly down on July, according to provisional data released Monday by the national statistics office.

The 2.3 percent year-on-year figure marked a 0.1 percent drop on July thanks to lower oil prices, according to the figures released by Destatis.
