Reactor closes after crane hits power cable

Biblis -- One of Germany's 17 functioning nuclear reactors was shut down on Tuesday after a crane snagged an electric power cable outside its compound at Biblis, south of Frankfurt.

Electricity company RWE said the turbine connected to reactor B, one of two reactors at the Biblis power station, automatically shut off after the remotely-controlled crane bumped a high-voltage line during construction work at a water-treatment plant.
