German new car sales stagnate in June: trade data

German new car sales stagnated in June on an annualised basis, with 288,400 vehicles moving off dealers' lots, the sector federation VDA said on Monday.

It noted that there were fewer business days this year than last but VDA president Matthias Wissman also pointed to higher petrol prices as a possible factor.

In the six months from January to June, dealers in the biggest European auto market reported a 10 percent increase in sales, to 1.62 million vehicles.

VDA expects the full-year figure to rise to 3.1 million.
