Vienna -- Austrian police said a German teenage girl was raped Wednesday as she was being forcibly taken across the border between the two countries after being snatched in southern Germany.
According to police, the 16-year-old said in testimony that the attacker forced her into the trunk of his car by threatening her with a knife as she headed to work before dawn in the German town of Regensburg.
She was raped at the German-Austrian border and released at Linz train station in northern Austria at around 9:00 a.m. (GMT), the police said in a statement.
Despite calling German police via her mobile from the trunk of the car, they were unable to locate the vehicle in time.
The attacker allegedly threatened to kill the girl if she went to the police.
German police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
