German finance minister hospitalised: ministry
Germany's wheelchair-bound finance minister, Wolfgang Schaeuble, is in hospital and will remain there for about four weeks for treatment of infected skin lesions, his ministry said Tuesday.
"The infections required treatment," the finance ministry said in a terse statement. "The experiences in the spring showed that he is also able to carry out his official duties from the hospital."
Confined to a wheelchair after a 1990 attack by a mentally disturbed man who fired three shots at him, Schaeuble, 68, spent weeks in and out of hospital earlier this year after scars from an operation failed to heal properly.
