NUREMBERG - German consumer confidence has improved this month ahead of the Christmas period, a survey by market researchers GfK released on Friday showed.

Consumer readiness to make major purchases is at its highest level for three years, the Nuremberg-based company said.

However there is little change over the previous month in consumer expectations of an economic recovery or income improvement.

A survey of business leaders on Thursday showed German business confidence at its lowest level this month in more than a year.
