German airports to reopen later Wednesday - minister
Airports in northern Germany that closed Wednesday because of danger posed by a cloud of ash from an Iceland volcano will reopen by afternoon, German Transport Minister Peter Ramsauer said.
"The cloud is moving to the northeast and airports will reopen sooner than expected," the minister told reporters.
Air safety officials said Bremen, in northern Germany, reopened as of 11:00 am (0900 GMT), while the airport at Hamburg, also in the north, was due to reopen at midday (1000 GMT).
Berlin's two airports, Tegel and Schoenefeld, which closed at 11:00 am local (0900 GMT) were expected to reopen at 2:00 pm (1200 GMT), they added.
