German Muslims protest against caricatures

20 February 2006, DUISBURG, GERMANY - About 2,000 Muslims took to the streets of Duisburg in north-central Germany Saturday in protest against cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed published in various European newspapers. The protest passed off peacefully under tight police presence, a police spokesman said. Speakers at the closing rally called for a ban on the caricatures. Last weekend, larger demonstrations were held in Dusseldorf, Bonn and Berlin.
