German MPs approve Greek aid

German MPs in the lower house approved on Friday providing 22.4 billion euros (28.2 billion dollars) in aid to Greece over three years despite opposition among voters. The bill now passes to the upper house.

A total of 390 MPs voted in favour of the loan package, part of a 110-billion-euro bailout from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund. A total of 72 voted against and 139 abstained.
