28 June 2004 , AACHEN - Four men were arrested Monday in the German border city of Aachen after a shootout with police and a hostage-taking drama, police said. Police said the incident started when border police wanted to control a car with the four men at a petrol station in Aachen, close to the border with the Netherlands. AACHEN - Four men were arrested Monday in the German border city of Aachen after a shootout with police and a hostage-taking drama, police said.

Police said the incident started when border police wanted to control a car with the four men at a petrol station in Aachen, close to the border with the Netherlands.

A shootout ensued, with one of the four men being captured on the scene. But the three others drove off, taking two persons with them as hostages and then barricading themselves in an apartment house.

After police surrounded the building, the hostages were released and the three remaining suspects surrendered. Further details were not immediately available.
