Fairfax County has a large, diversified and dynamic economy: A primary economic engine for the greater Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and the Commonwealth of Virginia, the county has added nearly 13,000 new business establishments and almost 196,000 new jobs since 1990. A quarter of local jobs are in high-wage, highly skilled technical, professional, scientific and managerial service occupations. Area companies range from entrepreneurial startups to Fortune 500 corporate headquarters.More than 360 foreign-owned firms operate businesses in Fairfax County. Most are professional and technical operations such as U.S. corporate headquarters, sales

and marketing, research and development, and engineering.A thriving venture capital environment with annual investments of over $1.2 billion in the Greater Washington, D.C. area.

The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) provides a wide array of free services and information designed to promote Fairfax County as a business location for domestic and international companies and organizations as well as to help American and international businesses locate or expand commercial operations in Fairfax County. In addition to its headquarters in Fairfax County, the FCEDA maintains offices in six major commercial centers worldwide – San Francisco, Bangalore, Frankfurt, London, Seoul and Tel Aviv.
