European Union lacks a clear direction: Berlusconi
The European Union lacks a clear direction and is so weighed down by bureaucracy that it is failing to improve people's lives, Italian Prime Minster Silvio Berlusconi said on Thursday.
"The European Union has not shown itself capable of guaranteeing peace and well-being, and only seems capable of producing lists of criteria and putting spokes in the wheels," he said in an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
"A clear direction is lacking in Europe's actions," he told the German daily.
