Munich (dpa) - The English version of the latest Harry Potter book has flown straight to the top of the German bestseller list published by the magazine Focus on Wednesday.

JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has had tens of thousands of Germans under its spell since it hit shops on Saturday.

The German version of the seventh and final instalment of the Harry Potter series is not due to appear until October 27.

Harry Potter books have sold 325 million copies around the globe in more than 50 languages.

The last book in the series began with a worldwide print run of 12 million. Experts tip global sales of the Deathly Hallows to top the 70-million mark.
