Eleven dead in German bus crash: fire brigade
Eleven people were killed and seven seriously injured on Sunday when a Polish tourist bus collided with a car on a motorway south of Berlin and crashed into a bridge, emergency services said.
"Eleven people have been killed, seven seriously injured and 22 have light or medium injuries," a spokesman for the fire brigade told AFP after the accident at the Schoenefelder Kreuz motorway junction.
A spokesman for the police in nearby Frankfurt an der Oder said that the bus hit a bridge. Media reports said that several hundred members of the emergency services including helicopters were at the scene.
The nationalities of those killed or injured was not clear. Reports said that the coach had 46 people on board. The motorway was closed after the accident.
