BERLIN - Delta Air Lines is restarting its Berlin-New York service, with the first flight to take off on Tuesday at 12.40pm from Berlin's Tegel airport.
The service will offer the first non-stop flights from the German capital to New York since Delta cancelled its previous Berlin-New York service in 1998.
In July Continental Airlines will start a competing daily service from Berlin to New York, flying from Tegel to Newark airport. Delta's service flies to John F. Kennedy airport.
According to Delta, 85 percent of all seats from Berlin to New York for the month of May are already sold, as are 90 percent of seats in the other direction. The cheapest economy fare is currently EUR 404.
The German airline LTU has also begun this week a non-stop service from Düsseldorf to New York. The airline will fly six days a week to New York's JFK airport from Düsseldorf.
