Gruesome cases of infanticide regularly hit the headlines in Germany.
On Wednesday of last week, a woman was jailed for eight years for killing two of her babies and hiding their remains in plastic bags at different locations.
One was found in a flowerpot on a balcony, another in a suitcase at the home of the defendant's grandmother and a third in a freezer in a flat where the 29-year-old had once lived.
In one notorious case, Sabine Hilschenz from eastern Germany was convicted of the manslaughter of eight babies in 2006. She hid their remains in buckets and flowerpots as well as in an old fish tank at her parents' home.
