British rocker Doherty faces possible prison in Germany
British rock star Pete Doherty faces a jail sentence in Germany if he fails to pay a 30,000 euro (42,400 dollar) fine for wrecking a car in 2009, a German newspaper said Friday.
A Berlin prosecutor has written to the rock star's London address giving him two weeks to pay, or face a 30-day prison term, the Berliner Zeitung reported.
It was not immediately possible to reach the prosecutor's office for confirmation.
According to the newspaper, an international arrest warrant could be issued if Doherty, 32, fails to pay the fine or turn up to serve the jail sentence.
Doherty, the Babyshambles frontman and former lover of supermodel Kate Moss, has repeatedly been in trouble with police over alleged crimes involving drugs or violence.
