BREMEN - The Bremen Kunsthalle art museum said on Monday that it has discovered a previously unknown and apparently untitled painting by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch and will put the work on display on 3 June.

The painting was accidentally discovered while restoration work was being carried out on the Munch painting 'The Dead Mother'. The workers discovered a painted canvas underneath that painting.

An examination of the second canvas by art historians determined that it was also by Munch (1863-1944), the Kunsthalle said.
