BANGKOK - A Thai woman professing to be a recruiter of masseuses for the German Bundesliga football league swindled 30 ladies out of USD 22,000 (EUR 18,000) in down-payments for non-existent overseas jobs and then succeeded in giving Bangkok police the slip on Wednesday.

Police attempted to arrest Niramol Chattayaporn, 52, on charges of swindling 30 masseuses from Ratchburi province out of 30,000 baht (EUR 591) each but found the bogus job broker had fled her Bangkok office, said Police Colonel Pisit Poyrungroj.

Niramol had told the Thai traditional masseuses that they would earn at least 60,000 baht (EUR 1,182) a month in Germany giving leg massages to football players in the Bundesliga, said the Phujagan online news service.

Police suspect Niramol has used the same scam on masseuses from other provinces in Thailand.
