BERLIN - Plans were unveiled in Berlin Friday for a "Boulevard of the Stars" similar to Hollywood's "Walk of Fame" to be located at Potsdamer Platz, site if the annual Berlin Film Festival.

The boulevard will honour movie and television stars both living and dead. Among a dozen names submitted for consideration was Marlene Dietrich, a native of Berlin.

Others included such 20th Century cinematic legends as Emil Jannings, who co-starred with Dietrich in "The Blue Angel", Fritz Lang who directed "Metropolis" and other silent classics and Ernst Lubitsch, who achieved fame in Hollywood with screwball comedies.

Like the Walk of Fame, the Berlin boulevard will honour celebrities with stars embedded in the pavement. The first stars are to be conferred during the 55th Berlin Film Festival next February.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame's star-studded sidewalks stretch for 18 blocks along both sides of Hollywood Boulevard.
