Berlin issues travel warning for Turkey

21 November 2003, BERLIN - Germany's Foreign Office advised citizens Thursday to delay non-essential trips to Turkey "for the time being until the situation becomes clearer". The recommendation, following bomb blasts in Istanbul, stepped up the level of caution, but fell short of an official warning against travel to the country like that in place in respect of Iraq. The ministry's website advised anyone who did travel to Turkey to exercise heightened caution.
