Berlin (dpa) - Frank Zappa (1940-1993) has had a street named after him in Berlin, the backers of a movement to honour the US musician in the German capital said Saturday.

The 300-metre street in an industrial part of the eastern district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf had its signs changed on Wednesday, they said. Previously it had been called Street 13.

The decision to make the change was taken some two years ago.

The street contains the Orwo House, a former factory that now houses rehearsal rooms for musicians. (www.orwohaus.de)
