Around 50 injured in German train crash: police
Around 50 people were injured, nine seriously, when a German train Tuesday derailed after colliding with a car, police said.
Three of the regional train's four carriages came off the tracks, one of them ending up in a nearby meadow.
There were around 70 passengers on the train, which crashed in Bad Lausick, around 200 kilometres (120 miles) south of the capital Berlin, a spokesman for Deutsche Bahn rail service said.
Police said the car was shunted onto the tracks by a van. The car's driver managed to leave the vehicle before the impact.
The train was travelling between the eastern German cities of Chemnitz and Leipzig.
