Police arrest two at right-wing rally in Germany 02/10/2006 00:00

HOYERSWERDA, GERMANY - Police made two arrests Saturday when protesters tried to stop a neo-Nazi rally in a town that gained notoriety for attacks on asylum seekers 15 years ago.
More than 200 members of the youth wing of the far-right National Democrats (NPD) marched through Hoyerswerda after police evicted 50 demonstrators who tried to stop the march, arresting two of them.
The eastern German town has staged a series of events this month to mark the 15th anniversary of attacks by rightists on accommodation used by asylum seekers.
The attacks, which lasted for several days, saw a series of buildings go up in flames and left more than 30 people injured.
The xenophobic NPD was earlier this month elected to the state parliament in the eastern German state of Mecklenburg-West Pommerania.
