UN flags lowered to half-mast after Nigeria attacks
The United Nations flags at its European headquarters in Geneva were lowered to half-mast following a bomb attack in Nigeria last week which killed at least 21 people, the UN said Monday.
"In the wake of the bombing of the United Nations House in Abuja, Nigeria, the Secretary-General has decided that the United Nations flag should be flown at half mast for three days" from Saturday 27 to Monday 29, the UN said in a statement.
Friday's attack in the Nigerian capital was one of the deadliest against the UN. Boko Haram, an Islamist sect, has claimed responsibility.
