Two Canadians killed, 31 injured in Swiss bus crash: police
Two Canadians were killed and 31 injured, four seriously, when their tourist bus flipped over in western Switzerland on Saturday, police said.
The bus which had German number plates "veered off the road on the right hand side and turned over" at Reckingen in the Valais region, police spokesman Markus Rieder told AFP, adding that the cause of the accident was not known.
The bus had 48 Canadians, a German driver and a guide on board.
The bus driver escaped without injuries, he added.
Twenty-eight of the passengers on the bus had been taken to hospital, and four were in a serious condition, said another police spokesman, Renato Kalbermatten.
The bus had left the town of Brigg and was climbing out of a valley on a major road when it flipped over.
The road is around five metres (16 feet) wide at that point and not particularly difficult for drivers, Rieder added.
