Two Canadians were killed and 20 injured, one critically, in a bus crash in Reckingen, in the Valais region of western Switzerland, police said Saturday.

The tourist bus, which had German number plates, "veered off the road on the right hand side and turned over" police spokesman Markus Rieder told AFP, saying the cause of the accident was not known.

The bus had 48 Canadians, a German driver and a guide on board.

Rieder said 20 Canadian passengers on the bus had been taken to hospital and that one person was in critical condition.
