GENEVA - Five people are being tested in Switzerland for the deadly swine flu virus after showing flu symptoms following a trip to Mexico, Swiss news agency ATS reported Monday.

The five people visited their doctors after the Swiss Federal Office for Public Health called for vigilance, Jean-Louis Zuercher, the office's spokesman told ATS.

Spain became the first European country to report a case of the new strain of swine flu Monday, with a man who caught the virus during his trip to Mexico.

More than 100 people died from swine flu in Mexico, and the United States and Canada also confirmed cases.
