At least two people were injured on Wednesday during the running of the bulls at the San Fermin festival.

Pamplona -- At least two people, an Australian and a Swiss national, were injured on Wednesday on the second day of the running of the bulls at the San Fermin festival, organisers said.

The 24-year-old Australian was in hospital after his jaw was smashed after falling during the run, but his condition was not thought to be serious. The Swiss runner, aged 36, injured his ankle.

According to some Spanish media reports, a Spanish runner from Madrid was also slightly injured, but confirmation was not available from local hospitals.

This was the second run of the 2009 festival, in which six bulls are released every morning to run from their corral over an 825-metre course. In the afternoon, the same bulls face matadors in the bullring.

The San Fermin festival, which attracts tourists from all over the world to Pamplona, in northern Spain, runs until 14 July.
