GENEVA - A young Swiss man who contracted swine flu was cleared to leave hospital on Sunday after being reviewed by medics at the end of a four-day period in quarantine, doctors said.

"The young man is definitely no longer contagious. He has made a full recovery without any problems and is now in good health," said a spokesman at the hospital in the northern Baden region who was cited by the ATS news agency.

The patient, the only Swiss national who was confirmed to have the A(H1N1) virus, was infected after returning from Mexico on Saturday 25 April, via Philadelphia.

However around 30 other people who also showed flu symptoms would remain in an isolation ward in Baden until Wednesday, the agency added.
